Protein, amino acids promote cardiovascular health

I just recently read a new study published in the Journal of Nutrition that I felt compelled to share. The study, titled "Amino Acid Intake Is Inversely Associated with Arterial Stiffness and Central Blood Pressure in Women" highlighted something we've been talking about in the Scientific Advisory Board for years. Amino acids matter! In this case the focus is on seven (7) specific amino acids; arginine, cysteine, glutamic acid, glycine, histidine, leucine and tyrosine. What these researchers found was that those subjects with the highest intake of this combination of amino acids had lower arterial stiffness (think hardened arteries) and atherosclerosis. This also contributed to significantly lower central blood pressure. An effect with lifestyle benefits similar to getting regular exercise or not smoking.

The take away: The study group was 1898 women between 18 and 75 years of age...a significant number and age-range...so the message applies widely. Also, only two (2) of the seven (7) amino acids are considered "essential"; histidine and leucine. The other five (5) are labeled "non-essential". It would appear that non-essential or otherwise these five (5) amino acids play important roles in cardiovascular health.

I doubt if very many people have any idea if they get enough of these seven amino acids in their diet...or even if they get any! One way to assure that isn't true for you...or anyone else...is to make a NeoLife / GNLD protein supplement part of your daily dietary program. All of the NeoLife / GNLD proteins are specifically formulated to deliver all 22 amino acids involved in human nutrition...including these seven (7). And that's an important difference!

For all who may be interested, I've included the link to this study below.
