Carotenoids promote / protect brain function
It has been known for many years that dietary carotenoids play diverse roles within our bodies as both fundamental nutrients in systems and processes as well as defenders of the cells and tissues that make up those systems. Much of that knowledge can be tied directly back to the many peer-reviewed scientific papers that showcased and substantiated the many benefits of NeoLife's Carotenoid Complex (CC).
Two particular carotenoids; lutein and zeaxanthin (both present in CC) have been shown to protect delicate tissue in the center of the retina of the eye, the macula lutea, from the degenerative effects of the light that streams into our eyes every moment of our waking lives. Such knowledge is also proof that these carotenoids cross over the blood brain barrier to do that important job.
A new study just published took that idea a big step further by showing that these same two carotenoids also protect the brain in ways that promote and support long-term healthy cognitive function and mental clarity. Here's what the researchers had to say; "Higher plasma lutein and zeaxanthin were independently associated with better composite scores across the domains of global cognition, memory, and executive function." This is important information for all of us who want to live a long life and retain our conscious minds. It's also yet another reason why you need to make daily carotenoid intake a key element of your nutritional health strategy. Think about it!
